April May Mounted Meeting Schedule at the Equestry

All lessons are at 9:30 unless other wise specified:

Saturday, April 18

Unmouted meeting March 26 at Cathy's Farm

Members met to discuss lesson schedules for future meetings. Emily was recognised for participating in the regional quiz rally in March. She placed second in the Senior D division and qualified for nationals. http://wnequiz.googlepages.com/home2 (for listing and pics of rally)

Cathy discussed the up coming dressage and show jumping rallies. Members talked about how difficult it is in our area to start working horses prior to April. Cathy suggested following Susan Harris's training schedule for the two months prior to the rally and then they should be ready. http://www.anatomyinmotion.com/fsehpcbooks.htm (for more information on Pony Club manuels)

March 2009 Meeting at the Eddy Farm

The Eddy Farm hosted an unmounted meeting of members and potential members. It was an opportunity for members to tell others in attendence about pony club and how our club organizes it's meetings.

We were fortunate to have Keeley Henderson, DVM come and give a talk on emergency horse care and what the essentials of a first aid kit are. Colic, symptoms of diseases, injuries, and what to do while waiting for a vet to help keep the horse comfortable were all subjects talked about with a lot of interaction from the audience.

November Mounted Meeting at the Equestry

DC Cathy instructed a lesson on cadence (rythmn and stride). This was her first chance to get to know the members and their horses a bit. She worked them as a group and also individually. She asked each their goals and what they thought they should work on to get there.

It was a great day and the lesson was much enjoyed by riders and parents who watched.

October 2008-Annual Meeting

Sponsors gathered at the Equestry for the Annual Sponsors Meeting. DC Judith was present along with parents. Judith has served as DC for many years and wished to step down.

We want to thank her for the many years she has served this Pony Club. She has been ever present, diligent with paper work, instruction, and to give a possitive word. We will miss her geatly, but know she has a new love of Fox Hunting and hope she can enjoy this time for herself.

We unanimously elected Catherine W. as our New DC. Cathy lives near by the Equestry on her own farm and participated in pony club as a youth in Maine. She rated at B level and was an instigator in the start of the Moosalamoo club when her own children were in pony club. We greatly appreciate her coming forward to keep this club of very interested youth going. Cathy's experience and ideas are welcomed.
